“The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don't tell you what to see.”
Alexandra K.Trenfor
I recently saw this quote on the window of an educational supplies shop and it got me thinking. If you replaced teacher with planner the quote would still ring true.
I’ve worked with some great planners over the years, but from a creative’s point of view the best ones are those that are able to tap into an insight that feels open to endless possibilities and yet still retains a strong sense of focus.
Many old school creative types believe the planner’s role is to help post rationalize the work of the creative. This can still be true as the creative process often exposes new insights but I believe the best work comes from that brilliant planner who’s able say “look over there, you might just find something special.”
